- This show will NOT conflict with other studio program offerings! Technique classes are vital for growth of skills that are utilized in performances.
- What is the cost?
- The cost for the production of $750. We do have incredible discounts for singing up early and being involved in other studio summer programs. Upon registration, the full amount is obligated due to the nature of producing licensed shows.
- How is the money collected?
- A $50 fee is required at the time of sign-up. Additional fees will be charged per above.
- Why is the full amount non-refundable?
- Shows are an opportunity to learn and everyone wants the same parts. Our directors operate independently of the studio owners in casting the shows. This ensures they provide parts that meet students where they are on the growth pendulum. Accordingly, if people “quit” because they didn’t get the part they want – it would be difficult to have a show. You will find your child has an opportunity to grow through how they are cast, in ensemble, role characters, and leads.
- What does the money go for?
- Putting on a production is a big undertaking. It involves a production team including a director, a choreographer, a music director, and others that work with students at every rehearsal from auditions until the final performance. Additionally we must cover costs associated with licensing the show, theater, insurance, practice facilities, set, props, set design, lighting, microphones, and more. Your students will be working with our professional team for numerous hours regardless of their role in the production!
- The cost of the show also goes to our crew that work hard to build the set, run the lights and sound board, and generally do everything during the show to make sure your children feel confident and look great.
- Will I have to purchase a costume?
- Maybe. All actors will need appropriate shoes and undergarments or leggings that parents will need to provide. We generally provide the main pieces but you may be asked to bring ancillary items (colored shirts, shorts, pants, etc). For additional pieces, we have a large costume closet to pull from, but in our local productions, parents may be asked to purchase some components of their costume. We are on a quick timeframe so you will be notified of this quickly to purchase a costume that our production team can approve.
- Will I have to pay to watch the show?
- Tickets will be sold for for adults and children. We may have some opportunities to usher or help backstage that would allow some parents to be present for the show at no additional fee. This production does NOT include “comp” tickets for shows.
- What additional money will I have to spend during the show?
- As mentioned above, you will need to make sure your actor has shoes, and any undergarments needed for their role (including tights and socks). You may also need some costume parts and makeup. Show tickets will need to be purchased. You will also need to make sure your student has food on double show days and long rehearsals. Finally, you can purchase an optional show t-shirt and that’s really ALL the extra fees that pop up.
- How do you audition?
- TBA – video audition and callback details to follow.
- What if I can’t make the first rehearsal?
- There is an opportunity to state all your conflicts when auditioning for the show. The directors will use this information to cast the show appropriately to ensure its success.
- When are rehearsals?
- Rehearsals will be in Rockwall starting July 7.
- What if I have conflicts with rehearsals or a performance?
- We know how busy life gets, so please just list your known conflicts on the audition form and we will do our best to work around them. Our team knowing in advance is vital for the success of the show and for the commitment of all those that are in it.
- What if my student wants to only be in the ensemble?
- The ensemble is a fun place to experience a production! There is singing, dancing, and an inside joke or two that bond kiddos and make the process SO much fun! Just put that in your preference list of roles your child wants.
- Do I stay for rehearsal?
- Rehearsals are closed to parents and outside observers. Your children actually are more relaxed and rehearsals are more productive without people watching. We want you to be completely in awe of the set, the cast, and YOUR star when you see the performance for the first time. Should you have any concerns, please notify us and we can work with you to address your concern.
- Will we receive a script for the show?
- Yes each student will receive a script. The scripts should be kept in good condition and will need to be returned at the end of the show (usually collected at the final performance). A fee of $75 will be assessed for unreturned scripts or scripts that are not in usable condition.
- How long should I be in classes at the studio before I do a production?
- There is no better time to start than now on classes and productions. Technique classes are extremely valuable to an actor. We feel acting is something that improves with practice and coaching. It is rare that a high level athlete achieves success without extra work and classes are exactly that. (This is why we offer a show discount to students who take summer classes) However, any amount of time is the right time to become part of one of our productions. They are well done, very professional, and SO much fun. This is really what the technique classes are all about so even if you are new, jump on in and see if you were born to be in the spotlight!
- Do I have to volunteer?
- All actors and a family member will need to participate in strike (organization of costumes, props, and certain set pieces) after the final performance. There may be additional optional volunteer opportunities as ushers or back stage help and we appreciate your involvement when requested.
- What if the show doesn’t meet minimum enrollment?
- Due to the minimum number of cast members required to effectively cover all the roles, should we not be able to produce the show, your registration will fee of $50 will remain in your account as a credit through December 2025 that may be applied to any of our other programs.
